White: Some Weight Classes In WEC Will Go To UFC

It has been talked about for some time, but it now can be confirmed; according to MMA Junkie, Zuffa LLC (parent company of the UFC) is in the process of incorporating some of the WEC‘s heavier weight classes into the UFC, according to UFC president Dana White.  Ever since Zuffa purchased the WEC in December of 2006, White had maintained that the WEC would be run as a separate organization, with a focus on the lighter weight classes.

However, the organization has had difficulty in stocking its middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, and rather than pull talent from the UFC roster, White said that the 185- and 205-pound divisions will be folded into the UFC.  Despite the intentions, White did not mention a timetable for the merger although he said the wheels are in motion for the merger.
