White Predicts Affliction’s Demise

Dana White

The complete numbers aren’t out yet, but according to MMAFighting.com, UFC president Dana White is already forecasting rival promotion Affliction’s demise; at the UFC Fight Night 14 post-fight press conference on Saturday night, White said, “After tonight those guys are going out of business and all [their fighters] will be over here.  Cause they spent a lot of money tonight.  And I know more about this business than they do.  If you spend a lot of money and you don’t get that money back, you usually go out of business.  Talk to the IFL… They know all about it.”

What is known is that approximately 14,000 attended the Affliction: Banned event, but the total buy rate and ticket sales aren’t known as of this writing.  Those figures will obviously dictate whether the Affliction card was a success or not; whether Affliction folds their tent after their inaugural show is uncertain at this point.  But the wild card in all of this is Donald Trump – Trump, being the astute businessman that he is, like any businessman, will absorb financial losses for only so long before he cuts bait.  So perhaps the next week or so could be telling as far as Affliction’s numbers from the event and what their next course of action will be.  Stay tuned to Octagon Buzz for the latest on Affliction’s movements.
