New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will be busy on the MMA front as Versus Network will have a WEC marathon. The December 31 block of WEC programming will run from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (presumably Eastern time), then from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM.
The marathon kicks off with a showing of WEC 45 at 2:00 PM followed by WEC 44: Brown vs. Aldo then WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II. The marathon continues with WEC’s Greatest Knockouts 2009 followed by WEC – Best of 2009. After a two-hour intermission (1:00 AM), a replay of WEC 39: Brown vs. Garcia will take place.
Speaking of WEC fight cards, a total of eight events took place in 2009, and WEC Vice President Peter Dropick revealed that at least seven shows will take place in 2010 – including WEC 46 on January 10 in California while WEC 47 is scheduled for March 6 in Ohio. In addition, WEC has entered into a partnership with Versus on a new and expanded deal; officials have announced that the deal will include a pair of UFC events on Versus, as well as one that will move some WEC broadcasts to Canada from its former home, TSN, to The Score in 2010.
