UFC, WEC Stars Visit Afghanistan

UFC

In a show of solidarity, the UFC and WEC will send a group of superstars overseas overseas to Afghanistan to meet and greet US troops stationed there; some of the fighters expected on the tour are: B.J. Penn, Michael Bisping, Urijah Faber, and Carlos Condit.  The fighters will get the privilege of visiting various units during the trip and will also tour 6 military bases while there.  Traditionally, the UFC and WEC have made a strong commitment to the men and women of the armed forces; UFC currently has a long-running agreement with the Armed Forces Network and consistently visits the troops at various bases across the United States.

According to UFC President Dana White, “We are honored to send UFC and WEC fighters to visit the men and women of the United States Military.  We are pleased to be giving back to such a great cause; many of our fighters have served in the military and understand what a great contribution our troops are making overseas.”  The fighters are expected to tour Afghanistan from June 14-23, 2008.
