UFC Video Game Unveiled Friday

The UFC is expanding their brand in more ways than one as according to MMAWeekly.com, the organization and video game developer THQ will unveil “UFC 2009” on Friday night’s edition of “GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley” on Spike TV and Spike HD; the show airs at 1:00 AM ET/PT.  On the episode, UFC president Dana White and Keighley will introduce the first game-play footage trailer of the upcoming video game and also feature two fighters who will be featured in the game.

As part of THQ’s multi-year deal with the UFC, “UFC 2009” is the first video game to be released; the 5-year contract gives THQ exclusive rights to produce UFC games through the end of 2011 for all console and portable platforms, as well as wireless devices.  The game is scheduled for release in the spring of 2009.  UFC, despite the big splash, isn’t the first MMA game that has been out in the open market as Play Station 2’s version of “Pride FC” was available back in 2003.
