UFC To Acquire IFL

                Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipInternational Fight League

In what has to be a very smart business move, Adam Swift of MMAPayout.com reports that the Ultimate Fighting Championship is in negotiations to purchase the International Fight League; a senior producer at the HDNet show Inside MMA has confirmed that deal is close to being complete.  The UFC, should this deal come to pass, will have made it very difficult for the rival promotions (Affliction, EliteXC, Strikeforce) to pick up quality fighters.

The UFC, as it were, had already acquired talent from the IFL and the purchase of the IFL will solidify the UFC’s position as the top MMA promotion in the world (not that they weren’t already).  And I am willing to bet you that the UFC will get the IFL dirt cheap.  But the other promotions don’t entirely lose out on this deal: they will get the UFC leftovers.  One more reason why Dana White makes Tom Atencio look like Homer Simpson.
