UFC on Fuel TV

The first main event on Fuel TV will feature Diego Sanchez taking on Jake Ellenberger on Wednesday, February 15th.  The event will include five fights to be shown live on Fuel TV and another five that will stream live on Facebook.

The event is officially being billed as UFC on Fuel TV 1 as this year the UFC is being shown on Fox, FX and Fuel TV. This event will be the first main one on Fuel TV and it will also be held mid-week on a Wednesday.  The fights are taking place inOmaha,Nebraskaas the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

Ellenberger is more than a 2-1 favorite in sports betting to defeat Sanchez in their welterweight bout.  Sanchez has been up and down in his career with one of the highs being a title shot against BJ Penn and one of the lows a loss to John Hathaway.  Sanchez seems to be back on the way up as he has beaten Paul Thiago and Martin Kampmann in his last two fights.  It could be that Sanchez is in line for a title shot but first he has to get past Jake Ellenberger.  That won’t be easy considering Ellenberger has won his last five fights including a win over Jake Shields.

Main Card
Diego Sanchez vs. Jake Ellenberger
Stefan Struve vs. Dave Herman
Aaron Simpson vs. Ronny Markes
Stipe Miocic vs. Philip De Fries
Walel Watson vs. T.J. Dillashaw

Preliminary Card
John Albert vs. Ivan Menjivar
Jonathan Brookins vs. Vagner Rocha
Buddy Roberts vs. Sean Loeffler
Justin Salas vs. Anton Kuivanen
Tim Means vs. Bernardo Magalhaes

With the UFC going to Fox stations this year, Fuel TV is going to get a lot of viewers.  Many people around the United Statesstill can’t get Fuel TV as it is not carried on some cable systems but that is starting to change as just in the past few months the number of homes getting Fuel TV has risen from 30 million to more than 36 million.  The UFC has made Fuel TV available outside of theU.S. to other countries on different cable systems or on UFC.tv.  While the best matchups in the UFC will still go to Fox and to pay-per-view, it is great to see some matchups like Sanchez vs. Ellenberger on Fuel TV.  That will continue into April as Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will face Alexander Gustafsson in UFC on Fuel TV 2.
