UFC Newbie Jones To Replace Drwal At UFC 87

A slight change to the fight card at UFC 87 has taken place as according to Dann Stupp of MMAjunkie.com, UFC newcomer and current USKBA light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been signed to a UFC contract and will replace Tomas Drwal at next month’s UFC 87 event.  Jones’ manager, Ryan Ciotoli of Team Bomb Squad, has confirmed the signing; the reason for Drwal withdrawing from the card is not known as of this writing.  Jones gets the unenviable task of taking on Drwal’s original opponent, Andre Gusmao.

Jones, who is only 20 years old, has an impressive body of work so far, as he was a standout high school wrestler and state champion; in addition, he recently won a national JUCO (junior college) championship at Iowa Central Community College before entering MMA.  His strong suit is his wrestling, yet five of his first 6 wins came by way of knockout; 2 weeks ago, he won the USKBA light heavyweight title from Moyses Gabin at a Battle Cage Extreme event.
