As if UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva was jinxed enough, not only has the fight card been injury plagued, it even affected the suits up within the organization. One of the suits, anyways.
Not only have fighters scratched from the card been physically affected, so has UFC matchmaker Joe Silva.
Nothing real serious happened, but Silva suffered an injury that is common among MMA fighters: a torn MCL. According to UFC president Dana White, in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun:
“It’s so bad the matchmaker is down. I don’t know how, but he blew it. He’s got to have surgery.”
This is one card that just needs to take place and go into the sunset. Never in recent memory has something like this ever happened in the UFC or other MMA organizations. Nonetheless, this will pass and things should be back to normal. It makes you wonder, nonetheless.
