UFC 97 To Take Place In Montreal

UFC 97

After some tenuous negotiations, it looks like UFC 97 will take place, after all.  According to MMAJunkie.com, Canadian officials announced last week that UFC 97 could not happen under the UFC rules; but according to corussports.com, a French-language website, the event will take place, but with some slight modifications.

According to the site, foot stomps will be disallowed, but elbow and knee strikes will be allowed.  Lorenzo Fertitta and Marc Ratner met with Richard Renault and Denis Racicot of the RACJ; after discussions between parties, the event will go on as scheduled; RACJ will hold a news conference explaining the decision (no details available at the time of this post).
