Now folks, don’t read into the headline as if UFC 93 will be cancelled; I am pretty sure that it won’t be; however, the UFC is having difficulty securing a venue in Ireland for the event, according to Fightline.com and verified by the Daily Record in Ireland.
So like a MMA fighter who is on his back, the UFC is “scrambling” to find a venue to hold the event; according to UFC UK president Marshall Zelaznik, they are investigating some venues in Scotland, with Zelaznik adding,
“There’s a 5400 seat arena in Glasgow at Braehead, which is probably the best venue for us now, so we’d love to be there. Scotland is a region that we’d love to be in, the venues are a little small there for us so we’re trying to figure out if we can bring one there even if it doesn’t offer the 9,000, 12,000 or 15,000 seats.”
On that scenario alone, there is the very real possibility that the date for UFC 93 could change, contingent on securing a venue in as short a timeframe as possible. Stay tuned to Octagon Buzz as future UFC 93 developments unfold, along with the most up-to-date MMA news.
