Just like you, I am so looking forward to watching UFC 87 on August 9 in what I think will be one of the better UFC pay-per-views this year.  With that in mind, I am going to stick my neck out there and make some predictions for this card, so here we go:

• Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch

This has the makings of the fight of the night as both fighters have advantages going into this bout.  It is unquestionable that GSP is the best at this weight class; but at the same time, I expect Fitch to make GSP earn his keep.  I predict: Georges St. Pierre defeats Jon Fitch, mid-3rd round (Submission)

• Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta

Huerta is a vet of these kind of wars and is undefeated in the UFC (6-0); Florian brings a well-rounded reportoire to the octagon.  I sense an upset by Florian – if youy consider a victory over Huerta an upset.  I predict: Kenny Florian defeats Roger Huerta, early-2nd round (Submission)

• Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring

Lesnar is making a homecoming, of sorts – which will serve him well.  Herring, on the other hand, needs a win in order to maintain some UFC relevancy.  This fight will not last long as Herring will after the fight ask if anyone took the license plate number of the Mack truck that hit him.  I predict: Brock Lesnar defeats Heath Herring, late-1st round (TKO – strikes)

• Manny Gamburyan vs. Rob Emerson

Gamburyan’s judo pedigree alone will be enough to pull out the win over Emerson.  I predict: Manny Gamburyan defeats Rob Emerson, unanimous decision.

• Jason McDonald vs. Demian Maia

Although McDonald is tough in his own right, it won’t be enough to overcome Maia and his impressive BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) skills.  I predict: Demian Maia defeats Jason McDonald, mid-2nd round (Submission)

• Cheick Kongo vs. Dan Evensen

Kongo will use his well-rounded attack on Evensen to good effect.  This one shouldn’t last very long.  I predict: Cheick Kongo defeats Dan Evensen, early-2nd round (TKO)
