UFC 105 Ratings Disappoint

Even the preeminent MMA organization can suffer a takedown. In a rare occurence, UFC 105, shown on Spike TV this past Saturday, fared poorly, garnering a 1.9 cable rating and 2.9 million viewers; the event peaked at 3.7 million viewers with the main event featuring Randy Couture and Brandon Vera.

Those numbers pale in comparison to the Strikeforce card on November, which earned a 2.5 rating and 4.04 million viewers, with the peak of 5.46 million viewing the main event, featuring Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers. Despite those gaudy numbers, Spike TV put a positive spin on things, saying they topped the Strikeforce card “in every male demo”.

ill admit this card was not a top teer card. in my opinion the swick-hardy fight was better than the couture fight. being that this was a free ppv and the very next weekend was griffin-ortiz the people at the ufc front office got lazy.
