The Ultimate Fighter 9 Tidbits

Several bits of information were given out by the UFC regarding The Ultimate Fighter 9 during Wednesday’s broadcast of UFC Fight Night 15, according to FiveOuncesOfPain.com.  One bit of info being that as opposed to previous seasons of TUF, this will be a team concept, pitting country vs. country – in this case, Team USA versus Team UK.

Welterweights and middleweights will be the representative weight classes this season; heavyweights had been rumored to be included, but apparently, the UFC higher-ups opted for the lighter weights instead.  Coaches for both teams have not been announced as of this writing, but because of the unique concept they will be utilizing, one would expect Michael Bisping to represent the UK as a coach.

Typically, the coaches for both sides are usually in the weight classes that are used on the series; assuming that is the case, there are several possibilities for the American team: Dan Henderson comes to mind as would Nate Marquardt.  Others would no doubt merit consideration, but the aforementioned Henderson and Marquardt would make ideal coaches.  Also, the coaches, at the end of the series, eventually hook up in the octagon for a bout, so there’s many possibilities as far as selecting coaches for both sides are concerned.  This should bear watching from this point on.  Once more details become available, stay tuned to Octagon Buzz for the latest TUF info along with your up-to-date MMA news.
