Preliminaries:

  • Jason Dent defeated Cameron Dollar (anaconda choke), 4:56 of Round 1.
  • Nick Osiczak defeated Frank Lester (rear-naked choke) 3:40 of Round 1.
  • Tomasz Drwal defeated Mike Ciesnolevicz (TKO – strikes) at 4:48 of Round 1.
  • Brad Blackburn defeated Edgar Garcia, split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
  • Melvin Guillard defeated Gleison Tibau, split decision.

Main Card

  • Joe Stevenson defeated Nate Diaz, unanimous decision (29-28).
  • Ross Pearson defeated Andre Winner, unanimous decision (29-28).
  • Chris Lytle defeated Kevin Burns, unanimous decision (29-28).
  • James Wilks defeated DeMarques Johnson (rear-naked choke), 4:51 of Round 1.

Tibau Replaces Tavares At UFC Fight Night Finale

Due to an injury, Gleison Tibau will step in for Thiago Tavares to fight Melvin Guillard on June 20th; the fight will be part of The Ultimate Fighter Season 9: Team US vs. Team UK Finale.  The event is scheduled to  take place at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

Tibau is coming off two consecutive victories over Jeremy Stephens and Rich Clementi and looking to improve up his 5-3 record in the UFC; meanwhile, Guillard stopped Dennis Siver last July at UFC 86.  Since that time, Guillard has suffered defeats to the likes of Joe Stevenson and Rich Clementi.

The Ultimate Fighter 9 Cast Now Official

32 men.  2 teams – U.S. vs. the U.K.  This is what to expect on The Ultimate Fighter 9: U.S. vs U.K., which will premiere on Spike TV on April 1 at 10 PM (ET), immediately following Ultimate Fight Night 18.

The format is a bit different as eight American fighters will go up against eight British fighters for the chance to be The Ultimate Fighter; as in previous seasons, the first two episodes will consist of 32 selected fighters competing in head-to-head bouts to determine the 16 cast members, with the “in-house drama” to take place starting on the third episode.

Dan Henderson will coach the U.S. team while Michael Bisping will coach the British team and both will battle each other after the season finale.  The show will feature lightweights and welterweights whoi will battle it out for the chance to appear on The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale, which will take place on June 20 in Las Vegas, NV.
