World Championship Fighting Updated Fight Card

World Championship Fighting today announced updates to their fight card for their WCF 10 event, scheduled to take place June 11 from the Shriner’s Auditorium in Wilmington, MA.

Originally scheduled to face Joe Dechaves, Noah Weisman will now fight Luis “Rockstar” Felix. Luis was last seen in action at WCF 8, in an epic 3 round war with Josh Key. Luis is one of the most exciting fighters currently fighting for WCF, and looks to show his trademark slams against the rising prospect, Noah Weisman. You do not want to miss this fight.

In a meeting of 130 pound fighters, Jeff Silva takes on Peter Cole. Both have fought previously for WCF and are always involved in exciting fights. Don’t blink in this one! Both fighters are fast, and both have the skills to end the fight on a moments notice.

Carlos Rivera, the teenage son of WCF Fighter Elias Rivera has also been added to the June 11 event. Carlos is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps with a big win in his WCF debut. Carlos takes on Josh Mellen, who last fought for World Championship Fighting at WCF 6.

A co-main event is expected to be announced by the end of the week, and it will truly make this a can’t miss event. World Championship Fighting also launched their new interactive website, and it’s flat out incredible. Fighter interviews, photos, videos, as well as ring card girl bio’s and information on how to become a part of World Championship Fighting can be found on their new website, which can be found at www.wcfighting.com.

World Championship Fighting New Website Launched and Announces Fights for WCF 10

World Championship Fighting today announced four featured fights for their WCF 10 event, scheduled to take place June 11 from the Shriner’s Auditorium in Wilmington, MA. Fresh of a stunning knock out win at WCF 9, Wilmington’s own Dan Bonnell takes on WCF new comer Christian Rivera. Christian is a veteran of over 10 mixed martial arts fights, and though the majority of his wins have come by submission, Christian has been known to stand and bang. The combination of these two will make for a very exciting fight on June 11.

Boneyard Fighter Dave Gilrein is also set to make his WCF debut, and he takes on Aniss Alhajjajy. After a long layoff, Gilrein made his return to action in February 2010, and won a dominant decision at 170 pounds. He moves back down to his more natural 155 pound weight class to take on a buzz saw in Alhajjajy. Alhajjajy has looked fantastic in his two prior WCF fights, and looks to keep his streak alive against Gilrein.

Joe Dechaves will also make his WCF debut, and he takes on Noah Weisman. Joe is 3-2 overall, and has shown great submission skills and a mean streak in the ring. Weisman started his WCF career with two dominant wins, and he gave John Benoit all he could handle at WCF 9. These are two of the most exciting up and comers in the area and you don’t want to miss this.

Fresh of his best performance to date, 7-time WCF veteran Stephen Stengel looks to give highly touted WCF new comer Scott Nichols a rude awakening. Stengel is best known for heavy hands and big knockouts, and he was very impressive in his submission victory over previously undefeated Mike Zichelle at WCF 9. He is set to face yet another undefeated prospect in Sit Yod Tong’s Scott Nichols. Nichols is only 19 years old, but has already defeated some of the best 185 pound fighters in New England. Now he’s set to enter into Stengel’s home turf and look to keep his undefeated streak alive.

More fights are expected to be announced in the next week, and you do not want to miss this event. World Championship Fighting also launched their new interactive website, and it’s flat out incredible. Fighter interviews, photos, videos, as well as ring card girl bio’s and information on how to become a part of World Championship Fighting can be found on their new website, which can be found at www.wcfighting.com

Hawn vs. Gallicchio named Co-Main Event for WCF 9

WCF

World Championship Fighting today announced that former Olympian and undefeated MMA fighter Rick Hawn is scheduled to fight New Jersey native Tom Gallicchio in the Co-Main event of WCF 9, which takes place Friday, February 26 2010 from the Shriner’s Auditorium in Wilmington, MA. Hawn is a four time national champion in Judo, and finished in the top 10 at the 2004 Olympics. He trains under both Jimmy Pedro and Mark Dellagrotte, and has started his MMA career at a blistering pace, going 5-0 is less than a year. Gallicchio has won 7 out of his last 8 fights, and has the majority of his wins by submission. He represents a step up in competition for Hawn, and the crowd is sure to love this one.

Also added to WCF 9 is a classic striker vs. grappler match up between fan favorite Jamie Campbell and Colin Schrader. Both fighters are undefeated, and both intend to keep it that way on February 26. Campbell was last in action at WCF 3 when he knocked out Jose Valentin in the first round. Schrader makes his much anticipated WCF debut, but has won his 2 pro fights by submission.

As previously announced, the card is headlined by Mike “The Beast” Campbell vs. Marc Stevens. WEC Veteran Mike Campbell is fresh off a win at WCF 8, and is 7-2 overall with 2 first round TKO wins for World Championship Fighting. Campbell is moving down to his optimal fight weight of 155 pounds to take on his toughest opponent to date at 155. Stevens is a dominant wrestler with fantastic ground and pound, and was 4-0 in 2009 (12-4 overall) with big wins over Hitalo Machado and “Mr. Big” Al Buck. Stevens is currently ranked #2 in New England at 155 lbs. and he looks to continue his rise to the top on February 26, but standing in his way is “The Beast.”

John Benoit Punch

Boston Mass. September 1, 2009 – World Championship Fighting today announced  more fights for their September 26th show at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass.

Local 7 Iron Worker, and frequent WCF Fighter John Benoit takes yet another tough fight when he takes on American Top Team’s Hitalo Machado. Benoit was very impressive in his recent win at WCF 7 over Damien Trites, and he looks to keep the train rolling against Machado. Machado makes his WCF debut, but is no stranger to the local fans. He’s a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, and is also an accomplished striker. This highly anticipated fight is sure to please.

Damien Trites will make his return to WCF after his war with John Benoit when he takes on Noah Weisman. Noah was impressive in his pro debut with WCF, beating Steve Beck by submission in the first round. Trites will be a big step up in competition for him, but Weisman is looking to get in there with the very best fighters the WCF can give him. Trites is looking for a rematch with Benoit, and a win here could set that fight up.

Two WCF newcomers are set to face off at WCF 8 when Jonathan Sola takes on Jeremy Ross. Both have fought some of the best 155ers in New England, and win here could propel them into the top 10. Both fighters are well rounded, but their strength is their jiu-jitsu. A slick submission is to be expected in this one.

In what could be the fight of the night, Luis Felix takes on Chris Foster. Felix has great wrestling and heavy hands, and Foster is one of the best boxers in local MMA. Both fighters will look to win by knock out, and no matter who wins, this fight will be action backed from the opening bell.
