While Chris “Lights Out” Lytle will probably never wear champiuonship gold with the UFC, he certainly has a knack of earning a supplemental income by way of fight bonuses.
Typically, a UFC fighter receives a double-digit payday at a fight and that’s it. That’s where Lytle stands out. While he gets his regular pay like the other combatants, he by and large exceeds the others on fight night bonuses.
As of this post, Lytle has amassed seven fight bonuses equalling a whopping $310,000. Below is a leaderboard, courtesy of Cage Potato, which shows the fight bonuses earned by UFC fighters:
Fighters With Seven Bonuses:
Chris Lytle: 4 Fight of the Night bonuses, 2 Submission of the Night bonuses, 1 Knockout of the Night bonus; $310,000 total
Fighters With Five Bonuses:
Anderson Silva: 2 KOTN, 2 FOTN, 1 SOTN; $280,000 total
Nate Diaz: 3 FOTN, 2 SOTN; $170,000 total
Tyson Griffin: 5 FOTN
Joe Lauzon: 2 FOTN, 2 SOTN, 1 KOTN
Fighters With Four Bonuses:
Quinton Jackson: 2 FOTN, 2 KOTN; $220,000 total
Forrest Griffin: 3 FOTN, 1 SOTN; $220,000 total
Demian Maia: 4 SOTN; $215,000 total
Wilson Gouveia: 2 FOTN, 1 KOTN, 1 SOTN; $205,000 total
Marcus Davis: 2 FOTN, 1 KOTN, 1 SOTN; $160,000 total
Sam Stout: 4 FOTN
Jason MacDonald: 3 SOTN, 1 KOTN
Active UFC fighters who have scored three bonuses during their time in the Octagon include Wanderlei Silva, Josh Koscheck, Clay Guida, Alan Belcher, Paul Taylor, Terry Etim, Thiago Tavares, and Matt Wiman.
Again, Lytle’s knack for earning the fight bonuses proves that while a championship is not in his immediate future, he is without a fighter who fans will pay to see.
