Shaw Replies To Monson Tirade

Jeff Monson

A funny video is making its rounds around the Internet; specifically, MMA fighter Jeff Monson released a video calling out Kimbo Slice – which Octagon Buzz obtained (to view it, click here).  In the video, Monson also demanded that EliteXC President Gary Shaw set up a match between him and Slice; as expected, Monson got a response – just not from who he had hoped to get one from as it came from not Gary Shaw, but from EliteXC Vice President and matchmaker Jared Shaw.

In response to Monson, Shaw told, “Get some wins and then maybe we’ll put him in line down the road to face Kimbo.  If we fought every person that’s called out Kimbo or that wants to fight Kimbo we’d be fighting everybody from a 3rd grader in Duluth to a 65 year old in Boca Raton.  So take a number, get in line and get some wins; then we’ll talk.”  What it looks like is that Monson was trying to – like fellow MMA fighter Brett Rogers – get personal and attempt to hype a fight between the two of them.  The difference here is that unlike Monson, Rogers succeeded in getting a match against Slice as they will hook up in October on EliteXC’s third show, which will air on CBS.  Like Shaw said, Monson needs to win a string of fights before he can grapple with Slice.
