As of this writing it is mere speculation, but according to Tatame magazine, Cristiane Santos is saying that a deal is in the works for Santos to take on Gina Carano at an EliteXC event in February 2009; Santos added,

“I think it’ll be in February, and it’ll be cool. Everybody wants to see this fight, we both [fought] on the last event and won, and it’ll be great. I’ll stand with her, and I think she likes it too, so why not? It’ll be a huge fight and someone is going down.”

Assuming that the bout is set into motion, it is expected that the winner of the Santos-Carano bout would be crowned the first EliteXC women’s champion.
