Riggs Wins Rage In The Cage 112 Main Event

One promotion’s loss was another one’s gain as veteran MMA fighter Joe Riggs headlined the Rage In The Cage 112 event that took place Saturday at the Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ; in the main event, Riggs earned a victory over Matt Dempsey with a rear-naked choke at 1:47 of the second round.  Riggs’ victory capped off the 20-fight card at Prescott Valley and drew an announced crowd of 4,000.

Riggs fought for the first time since suffering a back injury at a Strikeforce event in February; he had been slated to fight Luke Stewart at Strikeforce’s June 27 card, but had to withdraw due to not receiving medical clearance from the California State Athletic Commission after disclosing that he had a prescription medication.  However, Riggs agreed to be a late booking for the RITC event; he filled in for Edwin Dewees, who pulled out of the show to replace Vernon White at the Affliction: Banned event on July 19.  Riggs is expected to fight again in September when Strikeforce’s next card takes place at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA; the event is set to take place on September 20.
