Earlier this month, The Fight Network had announced that Mauro Ranallo would be a part of the Affliction: Banned telecast, doing play-by-play; however, last week Affliction announced that Ranallo would not be part of the pay-per-view, with the responsibilities of the announcing team going to Jay Glazer, Frank Trigg and “Big” John McCarthy.  So what gives here?  Well, it appears that according to Ranallo, in his weekly blog, revealed why he isn’t part of the Affliction broadcast.

Ranallo stated, “For you inquiring minds out there, the reason I am not going to be announcing the Affliction: Banned pay per view on Saturday, July 19th in Anaheim is due to my contractual obligations to EliteXC.  I am looking forward to anchoring The Fight Network’s extensive coverage of the Affliction event and I know that Jay Glazer, Frank Trigg and the Fight Network’s own “Big” John McCarthy will do a superlative job of calling the action.”  Ranallo can be heard on Fight Network Radio every Monday through Friday on Sirius Radio, Channel 186.
