John Alessio

It has been an especially busy week in the world of MMA; let’s get started here at Octagon Buzz and talk about John Alessio.  Alessio, as most everyone who watched or has followed the John Alessio fight already knows, bared witness as Alessio made Pete Spratt tap in the second round at the “Night of Combat” card.  It has been learned, according to Mike Russell of The Fight Network. that Alessio underwent successful surgery for a broken bone in his right forearm suffered during that fight; a steel plate was inserted.  Alessio seems optimistic that he’ll recover quickly and will continue training over at Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts in Las Vegas, NV.  In other MMA news:

  • Dream 5 has added another fighter to its card, which is scheduled to take place on July 21 at the Osaka Dome in Osaka, Japan; Kultar “Black Mamba” Gill has been scheduled for the event with an opponent to be named later, according to Gill’s trainer, Bill Mahood.
  • The crowd at the Max Bell Center in Calgary, Alberta on June 20 witnessed a quick, 20-second victory by UFC veteran David “The Crow” Loiseau as he knocked out Andrew Buckland during the Legacy Fighting Championship/Raw Combat: Resurrection event.  In addition, Dan Hornbuckle won the Raw Combat welterweight championship as he submitted Khatib at 3:58 of the second round.
  • UFC veteran Victor Valimaki made a successful return June 20 as he defeated Chester Post in the first round at King of the Cage: Moment de Verite, which took place at the Pierre Charbonneau Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  In other results from the same card, Tim Hague successfully retained the King of the Cage heavyweight championship as he knocked out Jeff Lundberg in the first round.
