Liddell Wants Griffin With Win Over Evans

I don’t want to assume that UFC light heavyweight Chuck Liddell is looking past Rashad Evans, but according to MMAWeekly.com, Liddell says that with a win over Evans, he wants first crack at the light heavyweight title – currently being held by Forrest Griffin.  Liddell further added,

“I think it should.  I think I should have a shot at him. I don’t see why I wouldn’t. Who else sells as much? But I’ll fight whoever.

“I think it seems to make sense for (the UFC). But that’s not something I concern myself with right now. I’ve got to get past Rashad before any of that makes any sense.”

This, should it happen, could be one of the biggest bouts in UFC history.  Both fighters are very popular amongst the UFC faithful.  Both fighters are coming off big wins – Liddell over Wanderlei Silva and Griffin over Quinton Jackson, so the buildup would be huge.  Not to mention that the UFC would need to market a possible Liddell-Griffin fight properly to make this one of the biggest bouts on the promotion’s history.  But first things first – Liddell needs to get past Evans in order for this to even happen.
