Liddell vs. Silva? Not So Fast

Just an informal question for those of you who are regular readers of Octagon Buzz: How many of you would like to see asuper-fight between recently defeated Chuck Liddell and Anderson Silva?  I would well imagine that some people would like to see the two light heavyweights clash within the octagon; well it just so happens that according to, none other than Jim Rome – who is not well-versed in diplomacy when talking about sports – has said his piece about the speculation of a fight between the pair.  Rome added,

“Chuck you now look like the drunken frat guy at a party who hit on the wrong guy’s girl and ended up on queer street…. There’s now speculation that Liddell will try to get his cred back by challenging Anderson Silva. Chuck, my man, if you got any sense and you don’t want to end up nose flat on the mat, you’d be wise to stay as far away from The Spider as possible.”

I don’t know about you, but if Liddell is harboring any thoughts of trying to regain the light heavyweight belt again, he is going to have to fight people who aren’t named Anderson Silva.  Silva would lay Liddell to waste as Silva is younger, faster and can impose his will on the vast majority of MMA fighters.  So Liddell vs. Silva – while it has the potential to be a moneymaker as both fighters enjoy huge popularity – it is a fight that makes very little sense.  And as much as I would love to see Liddell get a crack at the title again, I think that those days have passed him by and that the young guns in the UFC are more deserving at this point.  Agree?  Disagree?  Let Octagon Buzz know!!
