Liddell-Evans Back On For UFC 88

Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans

In what could possibly have title implications, MMAWeekly is reporting that former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell will face Rashad Evans in a 205-pound showdown; the UFC announced the bout on Monday.  The two principals were to have met earlier in June at UFC 85, but Liddell suffered a hamstring injury that forced him out of the bout; Evans was to have went up against James Irvin instead, but Irvin suffered a broken foot and as a result Evans was withdrawn from the card altogether.

Liddell is returning to the octagon after an impressive win over Wanderlei Silva at an event back in December, while Evans – while still undefeated – has been out of action since November 2007 when he won a split decision over Michael Bisping at UFC 78; the event, which will take place at Philips Arena in Atlanta will be the first UFC event to take place there and tickets for the event will go on sale effective June 21.  More bouts scheduled for UFC 88 will be announced in the not-too-distant future.  Stay tuned to Octagon Buzz as more UFC 88 developments become available.
