Whether it was a cost-cutting measure or simply a matter of a fighter with a losing streak is up for discussion, but the UFC let go of one of their own, according to Fiveouncesofpain.com; specifically, middleweight Jason Lambert has been released from the promotion – this on the heels of Fabricio Werdum recently being let go. The transaction has been verified by Lambert’s manager, Matt Stansell.
The fact is that Lambert, after starting 3-0 in the UFC as a light heavyweight, dropped down to middleweight where he had a three-fight losing streak – most recently at UFC 88 in September where he suffered a submission loss to Jason McDonald.
