IFL Sold To Zuffa?

International Fight League

Yesterday, I reported that the International Fight League was on the verge of either ceasing operations or being sold; as of this morning, according to Alan Kirk of Fightline.com, the IFL Senior Vice President of Communications Joe Favorito, announced that the promotion has been rumored to have been sold to Zuffa LLC (parent company of the UFC) and will cease operations as of July 31.  The obvious sad news here is that yet another MMA promotion has shut its doors, because the financial news obviously wasn’t good.  But the good news here is that assuming that Zuffa purchased the IFL, that will mean that there will be more quality fighters on the UFC roster.

Names such as Jay Hieron, Chris Horodecki and the Miller brothers (Dan and Jim) will now be in the UFC mix, which can only be good news for MMA fans.  so while it was a death knell for the IFL, it is in a sense a rebirth for fighters who were previously under contract to the UFC.
