Henderson Next Likely Opponent For Silva

The post-fight press conference at UFC 101 was interesting, to say the least as UFC president Dana White stated that although Anderson Silva annihilated a light-heavyweight opponent in Forrest Griffin, his next likely opponent would be at the middleweight class, presumably a rematch against Dan Henderson.

See, here is the thing about Silva.  It seems that regardless of weight class, Silva always finds a way to win; however, to be fair here, a title defense would be first and foremost.  Assuming that Silva beats Henderson (a likely scenario), how many other quality opponents would Silva face in the future at middleweight?

There lies the dilemma.  Silva could just stay at the middleweight division, or as I like to call it, the “Silva-weight” division.  Or he could bulk up to light-heavyweight and take on more quality opponents, including the fight that seems to be the flavor of the day – against Lyoto Machida.

He could also settle the “pound-for-pound” argument and drop in weight and take on Georges St. Pierre; so it isn’t like Silva doesn’t have options at his disposal.  But like most things UFC, the final say is in the hands of White.  Suffice it to say, I would expect an announcement as to who Silva’s next opponent will be in the near future; when the announcement takes place, Octagon Buzz will pass it along to you.
