GSP, Hardy To Main Event UFC 109?

Now that the matchup between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort is unlikely to happen, the higher-ups in the UFC are scrambling, so to speak, to find fighters to constitute a decent main event for UFC 109. Although there’s been rumblings about rumored fights featuring Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman and Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen, they hardly qualify for a main event fight for the event.

However, the UFC may have a possibility as it appears that there is a real possibility that Georges St. Pierre may square off in the Octagon against Dan Hardy for the event, scheduled to take place on February 6. Interestingly enough, the venue hasn’t been chosen as of yet, although according to UFC president Dana White:

“I honestly don’t know where it will be, but it could end up being in Vegas. Brits have no problem going to Vegas. It’s packed every time Ricky Hatton fights there. We’ll see, probably Vegas though.”

Assuming that St. Pierre and Hardy do indeed meet, the tentative fight card for UFC 209 looks like this:

  • Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy
  • Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman
  • Matt Hughes vs. TBA
  • Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
  • Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg
  • Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
  • Rolles Gracie vs. Mostapha Al-Turk
  • Rob Emerson vs. Philippe Nover
  • Ronnys Torres vs. Melvin Guillard
