Griffin Stats Beat Jackson’s

I suppose it would depend on what kind of MMA fan that you are, but there’s fans out there that actually use statistical analysis to determine who won a fight at any given time; for those of you who tend to veer towards the stats, the folks at Compustrike.com have provided the following statistics.  The below stats are from the Quinton Jackson-Forrest Griffin fight at UFC 86:

  • Griffin was busier, throwing 268 more strikes than Jackson.
  • Jackson was more efficient and landing the harder shots, landing 49% of his shots to Griffin’s 33%.
  • Jackson had a 67-48 edge in arm strikes landed – 64 of Jackson’s were power strikes while Griffin has 47.
  • Griffin had the edge in the ground game, garnering a 46-14 edge in ground strikes landed, enhanced by a 44-0 advantage in the second round.  Jackson did not land a single strike 5 minutes after absorbing a leg kick two minutes into the round.
  • Griffin also had 4 submission attempts and registered two dominant positions.

So basically, the second round may have been the turning point in the fight for Griffin.  Again, this is statistical analysis of the fight.  Who do you think won the fight – Jackson or Griffin?  Let’s hear from you!!!
