EliteXC Signs Alessio

A 3-fight losing streak apparently will get your contract terminated in the UFC; I’m not saying that’s good or bad, but at least John Alessio has found another MMA promotion to call home.  According to Sam Caplan of FiveOuncesOfPain.com, the former UFC and WEC welterweight has signed a three-fight deal with EliteXC; Alessio (23-11), last fought during the “Night Of Combat” event at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas in June, defeating Pete Spratt.

During his time in the WEC, Alessio sported a 5-2 record while posting a dismal 0-3 record in the UFC; a unnamed source has indicated that Alessio may be groomed as a possible contender for current EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields.
