Diaz Unable To Make Weight, Fight Still On

Nick Diaz

Despite not making the contracted 160-pound weight, Nick Diaz will fight Muhsin Corbbrey at a catchweight of 168 pounds Saturday night at the EliteXC “Return of the King” event in Honolulu, according to Josh Gross of SI.com; Corbbrey was informed that Diaz would not make weight after being informed initially by EliteXC executive Jeremy Lappen at 10:30 AM Friday.  The Corbbrey camp requested that Diaz attempt to make weight – which was unsuccessful – before a catch-weight was agreed upon.

According to Corbbrey’s manager, John Blanken, “We need to take this fight.  This fight makes my guy’s career. We need to fight him and beat him, so that’s what happens.”  This would be the first time that Diaz (16-7, 1 NC) has missed weight and was coming off a 170-pound fight against Katsuya Inoue 7 weeks ago in Japan.
