Despite Slice Loss, EliteXC: Heat Ratings “Good”

I think – at least in my humble opinion – that rating numbers are more of a perception thing more than anything.  Probably because unless you have worked for a major television network or one of the ratings services (Nielsens come to mind), I don’t tend to take much stock in the raw numbers.  Be that as it may, the numbers for Saturday’s EliteXC: Heat, broadcast on CBS, according to Sherdog, drew 4.31 million viewers; these numbers are according to CBS Primetime Senior Executive Vice President Kelly Kahl.

Kahl also added – and these are his exact words,

“In total viewers, we matched our first event in May and the male demos look like they were top-rated for the night.  Given the extreme competition from college football and Major League Baseball playoffs, we think it’s a terrific performance.”

Kahl also said that the numbers are subject to change due to live programing on ABC, yet also noted that the last 20 minutes of the EliteXC event – mainly the Petruzelli-Slice bout – are not included in the numbers.  In the grand scheme of things, the overall numbers should be a little less than the inaugural EliteXC event back on May 31 but up from their second event om July 26.
