Davis to Fight Kelly At UFC 89

Marcus Davis

Another fighter has been added to the roster at UFC 89 as according to John Morgan of MMAjunkie.comMarcus Davis has come to a verbal agreement to take on Paul Kelly at the UFC event, set to take place in Birmingham, England; Davis stated, “I don’t think (the fight with Kelly) is official yet.  I haven’t received the contract to fight [Kelly] yet.  But [the UFC] called to ask me, and I said yes, and I guess they asked him and he said yes.”

Davis is looking not only to reverse a snapped 11-win winning streak, but also a shoulder injury that happened in the weeks leading to UFC 85 in his fight with Mike Swick; Davis suffered the injury during overly intensive weightlifting sessions – a mistake that Davis claims he will not make again.  Meanwhile, Kelly made his UFC debut in January with a win over Paul Taylor; he has posted 6 stoppages in his 7 career wins.  Kelly was originally set to fight Sam Stout, but instead will take on Davis.
