Another fighter has been added to the roster at UFC 89 as according to John Morgan of MMAjunkie.com, Marcus Davis has come to a verbal agreement to take on Paul Kelly at the UFC event, set to take place in Birmingham, England; Davis stated, “I don’t think (the fight with Kelly) is official yet. I haven’t received the contract to fight [Kelly] yet. But [the UFC] called to ask me, and I said yes, and I guess they asked him and he said yes.”
Davis is looking not only to reverse a snapped 11-win winning streak, but also a shoulder injury that happened in the weeks leading to UFC 85 in his fight with Mike Swick; Davis suffered the injury during overly intensive weightlifting sessions – a mistake that Davis claims he will not make again. Meanwhile, Kelly made his UFC debut in January with a win over Paul Taylor; he has posted 6 stoppages in his 7 career wins. Kelly was originally set to fight Sam Stout, but instead will take on Davis.
