Cro Cop Out Of DREAM.5 Card, To Have Surgery

Mirko \

It appears that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will be out of commission for the meantime, as according to, Filipovic has bowed out of the DREAM.5 event set for July 21 and will rest his shoulder and have surgery performed on his knee; Filipovic verified the news at his official blog site, adding, “I’ve been having problems with my right elbow for years, and the injury got even worse over last six months.  I’m already receiving a proper treatment, but the recovery won’t happen overnight.  The second problem is a knee injury — something that [has troubled] me for quite a while.  I had difficulties using my kicks, and over last few weeks, I focused more on boxing and grappling.”

Filipovic, until the surgery was scheduled, was set to participate in DREAM.5, facing Jerome LeBanner then Siala-Mou “Mighty Mo” Siligia; but both opponents pulled out of the bout, necessitating the surgery for Filipovic.  He hopes to fight again on September 23 at DREAM.6 to hopefully take on Alistair Overeem.
