It seems like forever since Randy Couture and the Ultimate Fighting Championship have been at odds over Couture’s current contract with the promotion with neither side giving in; perhaps some headway is being made as according to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com was informed by Couture that a Texas state court is prepared to rule on his contractual standing with the UFC.  The UFC claims that Couture owes them two fights as its heavyweight champion; on the other hand, Couture states that his tenure with the UFC should end when a non-compete clause expires on October 11.

Couture also said that he expects appeals to be filed no matter the ruling; however, Couture expects to fight Fedor Emelianenko at some time in the future with Couture adding, “When, where and with what promotion — we don’t know.  It could happen in UFC. We just don’t know.  I want it to happen.  Fedor wants it to happen.  In some way, shape or form, we’re going to make it happen.”
