Belfort Off Affliction Card

Vitor Belfort, originally scheduled to face Matt Lindland at the Affliction: Day Of Reckoning show on October 11, has been forced off the fight card due to a hand injury, as reported by MMA Weekly and confirmed by Affliction vice president Tom Atencio, with Atencio adding,

“Vitor is out, I spoke with him I think yesterday and he told me.  Actually, it was on Tuesday we had a conversation for about an hour or so, and yeah, I guess he broke his hand in two places is what he told me and he had been having 2, 3 and 4 opinions on it. He finally got the opinion that he wanted I guess and they told him to step out for a while.”

With that development, Atencio now has to turn his attention to finding a suitable opponent to fight Lindland on relatively short notice; the current rumor out there right now is that current EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields could be the fighter that may face Lindland on October 11, but Atencio would not comment on the possibility.  As always, stay tuned to Octagon Buzz for further developments as they happen and up-to-date MMA news.
