Aurelio, Ray Added To Shine Fights II

As a result of a newly acquired TV contract, upstart MMA organization Shine Fights has added UFC veterans Marcus Aurelio and Gideon Ray to their next event, Shine Fights: American Top Team vs. The World; it is scheduled to take place on September 4 from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, FL.

The event will be telecast via one-week tape delay on The Fight Network.  Aurelio will step in for Milton Vieira, who was already committed to a September 13 event; Aurelio fought 5 times in the UFC, but was released after suffering consecutive losses to Hermes Franca and Tyson Griffin.

Ray will replace Jadson Costa on the card; after beginning his career 13-3-1, he has went a subpar 2-7 since 2006.  Ray last fought in a 45-second loss to John Alessio under the SuperFights MMA banner.

With the last-minute substitutions, the Shine Fights II: American Top Team vs. The World card shapes up like this:

  • Roan Carneiro (12-8) vs. Jorge Patino (22-11-1)
  • Luiz Firmino (12-4) vs. Ryan Healy (10-5-1)
  • Flavio Alvaro (24-6) vs. Jean Silva (16-8-3)
  • Marcus Aurelio (18-7) vs. Carlo Prater (24-6-1)
  • Junior Assuncao (8-4) vs. Gideon Ray (15-10-1)
  • Micah Miller (11-3) vs. Anthony Morrison (7-6)
  • Ediene Gomes (3-0) vs. Vanessa Porto (8-3)
  • Rich Attonito (7-3) vs. Herbert Goodman (8-7)
  • Brian Fuery (0-0) vs. Phil Friedman (1-1)
