American Fight League Postpones, Moves September 26 Event

On Saturday, the American Fight League, announced the postponement of their September 26 event, which had been set to take place at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA; instead, the AFL will relocate the event to Ft. Benning, GA at the request of U.S. Army officials.  The show will be in conjunction with the Army’s MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation), according to a statement by the AFL.

The postponement, while inconvenient for the fighters scheduled on the card, will allow for more viewers of the card (up to possibly 40,000 post residents); it will also serve as a launch pad for a U.S. Army tour in 2009 where in addition to the AFL’s regular schedule, they will also add a 4-event tour with MVR for military bases stateside and world-wide.  The date for the postponed show has not been announced as of this writing, but it is expected that the target date AFL has in mind is either late October or November.
