Maybe there’s more to Affliction than is being let on. First it was the inflated numbers – both live gate and pay-per-view buy rates. Perhaps there is a reason for that; according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Affliction vice president Tom Atencio would supposedly ask fighters to take a 50% cut in pay to participate in the Las Vegas show in October. Josh Barnett would have none of that as he told Zach Arnold of Fight Opinion that he would not take a pay cut.
If that’s the case, then the entire show could be in some serious jeopardy; Barnett already said he won’t take a pay cut. You know that Fedor Emelianenko won’t take one either. And without a doubt, the word will spread around to the affected camps. All of this unrest will mean serious trouble for Affliction. Stay tuned to Octagon Buzz as these developments unravel further.
